Terry McMillen’s first Tahiti Village appearance of 2013, on April 3, attracted a large group of owners and visitors to the main lobby entrance, where they met the NHRA drag racer, sat in his vehicle and competed for great prizes.
We set up a 13-foot electric slot car track with matching Terry McMillen dragsters, and Terry brought his own Eliminator game to determine the Fastest Thumb in the West. Slot car race winners and Eliminator champion Teresa Bartholomew earned their choice of NHRA race tickets or a three-night stay at the resort. Bartholomew, a visitor from Salt Lake City, registered a lightning .404 time early in the day and watched it hold up over the duration of the three-hour event to win the title. Eliminator contestants holding push button pendant switches compete against one another or individually on a .400 Pro Tree timing system that simulates a drag strip Christmas tree. The lights descend from yellow to amber to green, with the first thumb off the depressed red fire button declared the winner. With our activities staff also on hand to serve free popcorn and lemonade, it was a great day to be on property and enjoy another visit from our favorite drag racer. We wish Terry the best of luck at the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals this weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We look forward to his next visit in the fall.
