The timing of our first charity event of the year, a benefit car wash for the Las Vegas Chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, couldn’t have been better. The rain that had pelted the city the previous two days agreeably relented by Feb. 20, leaving lots of spotted vehicles for our band of volunteer washers.
Tahiti Village employees lent their vehicles to the cause and a mixed group of team leaders, including ASNY CEO Todd Spector, Soleil Management president Richard Rodriguez, Somerpointe Resorts senior vice president and chief operating officer Carl Hardin, and Soleil chief financial officer Bob Wagner, put their elbows to work.
At the conclusion of four hours, we had washed 23 vehicles and raised $323 for the VFW, which assists veterans in obtaining benefits, lobbies for additional benefits, and helps returning soldiers assimilate back into civilian life.
The event was put on by the charitable arm of our corporate giving committee, ASNY Cares. ASNY is the parent company of Somerpointe Resorts, of which Tahiti Village is the flagship property, and Soleil Management, which oversees the vacation club. ASNY Cares is comprised of dedicated individuals from both.
A concurrent car wash to benefit the VFW at the ASNY corporate office in Las Vegas also raised $550, bringing the total to $873! We thank everyone for their generosity on behalf of a great cause.
