British celebrity Alex Belfield says we’re the best in LV

We are always happy when someone tells us how much they enjoyed their visit. So you can imagine how we felt when a popular British celebrity named us the best place to stay in his Las Vegas Top 10 list for 2013. We would like to thank Alex Belfield for his personal recommendation, and are honored by our inclusion in an illustrious group that also includes Criss Angel, Frankie Moreno and Zumanity.

The list is a result of Belfield’s yearly pilgrimage to Las Vegas, where the popular UK radio host-singer-comedian-pianist-celebrity interviewer samples numerous offerings in 10 categories, then reduces them down to a single standout in each classification. He posts the results and discusses how he reached his conclusions on his Celebrity Radio website.

We won’t repeat the reasons here when you can simply listen to the YouTube interview below. We do think his words will remind you all over again why Tahiti Village is a great place to stay.

Treadmills

Tower 5 Fitness Center Gets Three New Treadmills

The addition of three new treadmills to the Tower 5 fitness center means you’re not only more likely to get one when you want one, but guaranteed a good one every time. The new Precor GFX treadmills are full commercial health club models, a considerable step up from the light commercial units they replaced.

The built-in Ground Effects (GFX) technology overcomes a crucial treadmill problem: how to engineer a running surface that is solid enough to provide maximum stability and pliable enough to absorb high-impact motion. Most treadmill decks flex like an inverted bow to absorb shock. That solves one problem (stress on joints) but creates a new one (getting up to speed).

Precor analyzed the problem and redefined high-impact running as a low-impact sport that didn’t have to sacrifice stability, safety or speed. The results are a patented treadmill design that outperforms a natural running surface.

We think you’ll notice and appreciate the difference.

TripAdvisor Cert of Excellence 2012

Tahiti Village wins TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence

A customer satisfaction rating of 4 (out of 5) has earned us a coveted TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2012. The award for hospitality excellence is given only to the most exceptional performers and top ratings earners in TripAdvisor’s global business community. Less than 10 percent of resorts listed on TripAdvisor receive this prestigious award.

“As one of the most discussed resorts on the world’s largest travel site, with more than 700 reviews, we are honored to receive the recognition,” said Lynn Mitchell, Soleil Management vice president of Nevada operations. “We think it is testament to our consistency and customer service that we’ve been able to maintain our customary level of excellence over hundreds of reviews.”

While we are happy with the award, we won’t be completely satisfied until we capture that elusive 5.

Bring in the New Year with us at Tahiti Village

Tahiti Village is bringing in 2012 with “An Eve in Paradise.” Join us Dec. 31 in our 10th floor Owners Lounge from 10:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. for what we’re guessing will be the only New Year’s Eve bash in Las Vegas featuring Grand Marnier chocolate strawberries. The party will culminate with a spectacular Strip fireworks display you can view from our spacious balcony.

The party also includes an open bar, live entertainment and dancing, a chilled seafood appetizer bar, fresh fruit, assorted cheeses, hats and party favors, and a complimentary New Year’s Eve photo souvenir. Last year’s event drew 82 partygoers, and we’re expecting even more this year. This is the kind of extravaganza so many New Year’s parties aspire to but utterly fail to achieve.

“We are looking forward to counting down 2011 and getting 2012 started off on the right foot,” said Stacy Pickett, banquet and catering manager for Tahiti Joe’s, which is providing the food and beverages. “This is going to be our best New Year’s Eve party yet.”

Tickets are $115 plus tax and available at the Tahiti Village front desk or concierge and through our catering department at 702-440-6945. Must be 21 to attend.

Luau extended two more big weeks!

Too hot!

Due to numerous requests asking us to extend our popular weekly summer luau past Labor Day, we have decided to do just that. Following a dark week on Sept. 10 to accommodate previously booked events, we have scheduled luaus the next two Saturdays, Sept. 17 and 24.

Our Labor Day luau was designated the last one of the year, but when it attracted a sold-out crowd of more than 300 owners and guests, marking a 15th straight successful week, we thought, `Who are we to deprive anyone of hula dancers and kalua pork when they’re asking for more’?

“We couldn’t be happier with the response,” general manager Mike Rounds said. “As long as the weather’s nice and we keep getting demand for more, I don’t see why we wouldn’t extend them into fall.”

At this point we’re not sure if we will extend the luau past Sept. 24, so be sure to check back for updates. Admission prices and start time will remain the same. For more information on the luau, please call the front desk at (702) 440-6800.
