Nitro Funny Car with Tahiti Village Branding

Getting up to Speed with Chad Green

The pace of life during the global pandemic was viscous, like watching black tar oozing the span of an inch in the span of a week. We had a lot of catching up to do rectifying the days of thunder, so naturally we tasked professional Nitro Funny Car owner and driver Chad Green with the challenge. We were lucky enough to partner with this driver originally from Midland Texas, and learned why this speed demon recently upgraded from the Pro Mod car to the dangerously faster Funny Nitro Car. Chad Green Motorsports Meet and Greet at Tahiti Village.

Before Chad Green hit the track, Tahiti Village and Chad Green Motorsports hosted a Meet and Greet for fans and guests alike. Fans and guests came to Tahiti Village and were clearly as excited to meet Chad as we were, as throngs of people and polite hysteria ensued around Chad and his car, where he patiently met all his fans and overdosed on selfies like a true sport. Tahiti Village has a long history supporting the sports world, sponsoring teams like The Golden Knights, Las Vegas Aces, and the Las Vegas Lights. It’s a perk and a privilege we always look forward to sharing with our owners and their guests. We were also able to give away tickets to owners to enjoy the NHRA Camping World 4 Wide Nationals that happened April 1st – 3rd. Nitro Funny Car at Tahiti Village

Las Vegas Is Waiting For You

Las Vegas is bouncing back, and shows are starting to re-open. Occupancy rates for hotels and casinos are on the rise. Restaurants are seeing reservations picking up quickly and regularly having wait times during peak dining hours. Other attractions and entertainment options in the city have increased to 80% by the state Government, and the city is aiming for 100% occupancy rates in early June. All of this means that Vegas is back and ready for your next vacation!

Are you Ready to Come Back?
Join the trend of increasing passenger traffic coming through McCarren Airport. According to their latest data, just over 2.9 million passengers arrived at their terminals in the month of March 2021. That’s up from 2.1 million in March. As airlines begin to adjust their rates, you’ll likely save money by booking your flights sooner rather than later. Airport traffic is always a great indicator of the interest in Vegas, and we love to see things returning to normal.

The Intermission is Over!
Shows like Absinthe and Atomic Saloon Show, by Speigelworld, are now open Wednesday – Sundays, offering safe seating pods. Speigelworld is also diligently working to re-open, Opium, so their trio of wildly popular shows will be here to entertain you during your next vacation. Their shows are perfect for people looking for something a little off-kilter and edgy in the evenings.

If you prefer the acrobatics and theatrics of Cirque de Soleil, you’ll be able to see Mystère and O in person again soon. Mystère will re-open at TI on June 28th, and just three days later, on July 1st, O is back in business at Bellagio. Cirque shows have been closed since the initial shutdown in March of 2020.

Other shows like David Copperfield, Blue Man Group, and Jabbawockeez have been open and operating for some time now as well. The entertainers and their fantastic support staff have been eagerly waiting for the chance to bring their craft back to the stage, and the time is finally here. Remember that you can get tickets to these great shows and more from our concierge desk during your stay!

Getting around the strip just got easier because, on May 11th, the Las Vegas Monorail started running again. Now visitors can quickly get between all of the stops on the East side of the strip and get to their next destination as fast as possible. Remember that you can buy day passes to the monorail to save some money and get around quickly all day long!

What’s New at Tahiti Village?

To keep the tropical vibe strong, the Luau is back in business and better than ever. We have spent the last year looking at ways to make the Luau more immersive, and you’re going to LOVE the changes that we have made. The event space has had a cover added to it to help block out the sun during the early part of the show, and for those arriving early, the new experiences are sure to keep you entertained before the main show.

And if you needed more of a reason to visit us, Mermaid Mondays are back and better than ever! CaySea the Mermaid is upping her showing this year. We will also be offering “Swim with the Fin” classes for children to learn to swim with their own fins! For little girls, they learn to swim in mermaid tails, and little boys will get shark fins. Scenic Hiking Experiences In Las Vegas

Scenic Hiking Experiences In Las Vegas

Are you looking to take the family on a scenic experience in Las Vegas, but don’t know good hiking trails that will be fun for all? We have you covered! Right in Vegas’ backyard are some of the most beautiful and picturesque sights to experience with an outdoor aspect for everyone.

Las Vegas has several different places for families to go, one of the most popular being Red Rock Canyon. People go to see the infamous “red rocks” and to hike or take an evening drive around the scenic loop. Another gorgeous experience is Mount Charleston is, especially for those visiting Vegas in the winter months. The snow and winter activities that can be done on the mountain are unbelievable. Lastly The Valley of Fire is worth the drive as it is full of rich and beautiful history.

Red Rock:

Red Rock Canyon has 13 miles of a beautiful scenic drive to admire the amazing canyons and peaks. A Visitor Center is located just past the entrance for guest’s convenience. It includes indoor and outdoor exhibits, plants throughout the canyon, wildlife to expect, and desert tortoise habitats. You can also bike, climb, and horseback ride as well. The daily entrance fee for a car/truck is $15 per vehicle. All entrance fees go towards upkeep to the canyon.

Easy/Moderate – Calico Tanks Trail

This 2.2 mile out and back trail offers wild flowers, beautiful views of red rock and a chance for some boulder scrabbles. It is well marked on the way to tank and the scenery is perfect in the morning hours. This trail offers limited to no shade so be careful in the summer months.

Hard/Difficult – Turtlehead Peak Trail

This 4.6 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail, beautiful views of Red Rock Canyon, and the Las Vegas Strip can be seen from a –top of Turtle Head. This trail has pretty steep inclines, & rock crawls. The trail is well marketed but it is easy to veer off the main trail at times if you do not pay close attention.

Mount Charleston:

Spreading over 90 acres, the Spring Mountains Visitor Gateway offers a Visitor Center, Education Building, group picnic areas, two amphitheaters, trailheads, and expansive areas with benches to take in the views of Kyle Canyon and Charleston Peak. The Seven Stones Plaza at the Gateway honors the 7 Paiute tribes who consider this a sacred Nuwuvi creation place. Also found at the Gateway is the Silent Heroes of the Cold War Memorial, the nation’s first national Cold War memorial.

From a cool escape in the summer to a snowy wonderland in the winter, the Spring Mountains offer a distinct change in seasons not normally found in the Mojave Desert. Fall colors and spring wildflowers delight hikers who visit during these quiet seasons. You can also horseback ride, climb, off road drive, bike, and experience the gorgeous scenic drive.

Moderate – Mary Jane Falls Trail

This 2.9 out and back trail is a moderate uphill hike with a ton of switchbacks, but the ending is beautiful with a waterfall (season permitting). The trail is very visible and busy. There are many places to stop and rest if needed. One of the busiest trails in Mount Charleston so go early and bring lots of water.

Moderate/Hard – Cathedral Rock HikingTrail

This 2.7 out and back trail is located near Mount Charleston Lodge. It is best used from May until November and closed in the winter months due to snow. The travel offers thick patches of aspens and evergreen, views of The Cliffs with a drop off of 1,000 feet. Once you reach the  top, at 8,000 feet above sea level,  mind your snacks as the Palmer Chipmunks enjoy the views also. Please resist feeding them, by feeding them they will become dependent on humans for their food.

–Spring Mountain National Recreation Area – Off Rt. 160

Moderate – Hollow Rock Peak

This 5.4 mile out and back lightly traveled trail and is best used from September until May. The trail offers some up and downs and class 3 scrabbling to the summit. The trail gets a little hard to follow near the sandstone portion

Hard – Hidden Arches HikingTrail

This 6.6 mile out and back lightly traveled trail is recommended for only well experienced adventures. The trail is used by rock climbers and hikers in the area. There is a hidden arch, hence the name. It will appear behind you once the trail seems to end.

A Visitor Center provides exhibits on the geology, ecology, prehistory and history of the park and nearby region. You can also take a drive around the state park with their scenic drive to see all of the beautiful views. Day use entrance fee is $10 per vehicle.

Easy – Fire Wave Hiking Trail

This 1.5 heavily trafficked out and back trail and offers sandstone formations that resembles ice cream swirls and or ocean waves of pink, white and red sandstone. The trail starts off sandy and transitions into sandstone. There is no shade on this trail so bring plenty of water and avoid hiking in extreme heat.

Moderate/Hard – Prospect Hiking Trail

This 8.8 out and back trail offers spectacular views of Valley of Fire, wildflowers and wild life. Some areas of the trail are not well marked so use of a GPS is recommended. There are boulders and loose rocks within a wash that will need to be traversed.

Meet Ava Gomez From Mahana Spa ☀️

Meet Ava Gomez From Mahana Spa!

Mahana Spa has been such a beautiful and relaxing part of our tropical resort for years and we are so happy to introduce our new massage therapist, Ava Gomez. Gomez has been in the massage therapy industry for over 10 years and has had the pleasure of working in some really amazing places such as The Ritz-Carlton, The Waldorf Astoria, and many more before joining the Mahana Spa team.

Gomez attended and completed the massage therapy program from Kingston University in 2008, has been a licensed message therapist since 2010 and a licensed esthetician since 2015. Her experience and knowledge is diverse and focused on a more holistic approach to treatment.

Being a massage therapist means that it does not matter how long you are in the industry, there is always something new to learn. With different cultures, specializations and teachings, the knowledge is vastly open to new realizations.

Gomez recalls whenever she was sick as a child, her mother rubbing vapor rub on her back, chest and feet or her grandmother’s scalp massage accompanied with a prayer to feel better. It was these experiences that drove the initial love of massage therapy.

“Massage therapy has allowed me to fill a void of cultural identity. In Mexico and various Latin American villages they often had a healer who treated various conditions. These special individuals were called a “Curandero(a)” many of whom specialized in massage therapy or some type of bodywork who they identified as a “Sobador(a)”. Similarly, the Polynesian culture has a vast history of massage techniques and traditional healing practices that I hope to implement into our spa menu at Mahana Spa,” Gomez said.

Gomez likes to take her guests on a sensory journey during their chosen service and specializes in making memories. Engaging guests in senses from the aroma of the essential oils to the sound of the music, it is meant to make them feel better not only physically but also giving them a chance to connect with themselves mentally and spiritually, which provides for a one of a kind experience.

The question is almost always asked of which massage service is recommended. Gomez would recommend that everyone try the Island Blend. It is a great service for those who can’t decide between a relaxing massage, deep tissue massage, and hot stone treatment. It allows the guest to pick two of the modalities and blend them into one.

Mahana Spa is Gomez’s sanctuary and plans on researching the different healing practices and traditions of the indigenous Polynesians as well as the indigenous Native Americans of Nevada to incorporate into services.

“In some ways it feels like I was always destined to be a healer, I love that I can pull ideas from various schools of thought to treat one individual but also can connect with the how they used to treat people back then,” said Gomez.

Ava Gomez is certainly an amazing individual and addition to our family at the resort. We are so excited to learn more from her, her wisdom, knowledge and connections with guests and owners!
