We bid farewell to JET and welcome 1OAK

We regret to inform you that this Labor Day weekend marks the last time you can party at JET. The Mirage’s popular nightclub will close Tuesday, Sept. 6, and in grand Las Vegas tradition reopen New Year’s Eve with a new look and new name (1OAK).

As you probably know, our successful affiliation with JET allowed many owners free entry (and non-owners generous discounts) into the best nightlife experience in Las Vegas. Hundreds of Tahiti Village visitors enjoyed dancing the night away on any of JET’s three dance floors. The good news is, we are negotiating to continue our partnership with the Mirage and hope to have a similar affiliation in place for 1OAK’s grand opening New Year’s Eve 2011.  The new club will be a West Coast version of the edgy and exclusive New York City hotspot operated by the Butter Group, which runs a collection of trendy venues. The name 1OAK is a synonym for “one of a kind.” It boasts a décor featuring walls padded with ostrich leather, oak ceilings and black lacquer. The Las Vegas club will take its attitude from the New York venue, but assume a look and feel all its own.

“We are thrilled to be expanding the brand into one of the most celebrated entertainment destinations in the world,” said Scott Sartiano, managing partner at 1OAK.

Andrew Sasson, founder of the Light Group, the Las Vegas nightlife operator that runs JET, said in a statement: “1OAK Las Vegas will be a truly unique nightlife experience that will set new industry standards in Las Vegas.”

Owners’ Night at Tahiti Joe’s remains a big hit

Owners’ Night at Tahiti Joe’s has traditionally been one our most popular events, and now it’s even better. How could we improve on something that was already most excellent? For starters, we’re offering pitchers of your favorite domestic draft beer for only $4. Now you can enjoy copious amounts of Bud Light, Coors Light and Miller Lite for just a dollar more than a single draft of those same beers. Add to that half-price bottles of wine and $5 appetizers and it’s easy to see how our exclusive Owners’ Night may have surpassed its previous standard.

“We’re excited that Owners’ Night continues to evolve without losing the elements that make it so popular,” said Tahiti Joe’s general manager Stacy Pickett. “It’s a really great value.”

While some things have changed, others remain the same. You can still bust a move on our spacious dance floor, or just sit back, relax and enjoy the live entertainment. There will also be a drawing for fabulous and fun prizes. As always, drink and food discounts are exclusive to our owners but everyone is welcome to partake of the entertainment with regular menu and bar pricing.

“Everything was great: the service, the food and especially the entertainment,” said Jasmine Gregory, who attended a recent Owners’ Night event with her family.  We invite you to join us every Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Tahiti Joe’s. Space is limited. To make a reservation, call (702) 440-6945 or dial extension 6945 from your suite. Please remember to show your Owner’s Card to receive the food and drink discounts. See a concierge for details.

Video: Tahiti Village luaus all summer long

Last summer’s crowd-pleasing but occasional luaus are back by popular demand, and the even better news is we’re having them every Saturday night poolside at Tahiti Village. Now you can count on an “Evening in Paradise” from 6 to 9 p.m. once a week through Labor Day.

This season’s luaus have been drawing progressively larger crowds over the first four weeks. It’s easy to see why, as the following video demonstrates.

The entertainment is a blend of happy songs from Hot Lava and special guests, hula dances (with audience participation) from the Hot Lava girls and thrilling performance art from a fire dancer and a balance board daredevil.

Tahiti Joe’s, in addition to sponsoring the luau, provides a sumptuous island-style feast of kalua pork, Polynesian chicken, island jasmine rice and Tahitian salad, plus a zingy fruit medley and squares of coconut cake.

All in all, it has been a great start to summer here at Tahiti Village in what promises to be a fun and eventful season. Lu-Wow indeed!
