The pace of life during the global pandemic was viscous, like watching black tar oozing the span of an inch in the span of a week. We had a lot of catching up to do rectifying the days of thunder, so naturally we tasked professional Nitro Funny Car owner and driver Chad Green with the challenge. We were lucky enough to partner with this driver originally from Midland Texas, and learned why this speed demon recently upgraded from the Pro Mod car to the dangerously faster Funny Nitro Car.
Chad Green Motorsports Meet and Greet at Tahiti Village.
Before Chad Green hit the track, Tahiti Village and Chad Green Motorsports hosted a Meet and Greet for fans and guests alike. Fans and guests came to Tahiti Village and were clearly as excited to meet Chad as we were, as throngs of people and polite hysteria ensued around Chad and his car, where he patiently met all his fans and overdosed on selfies like a true sport. Tahiti Village has a long history supporting the sports world, sponsoring teams like The Golden Knights, Las Vegas Aces, and the Las Vegas Lights. It’s a perk and a privilege we always look forward to sharing with our owners and their guests. We were also able to give away tickets to owners to enjoy the NHRA Camping World 4 Wide Nationals that happened April 1st – 3rd.
Father Son Duo
Father and Son duo, Chad Green in his Nitro Funny Car, and Hunter Green in his Top Alcohol Car both drove at the NHRA Camping World 4 Wide Nationals in Las Vegas. Hunter Green made his first ever debut in the Top Alcohol Dragster Class. Fans and attendees flocked to see their set-up, enjoying the spoils of these events. Both drivers did exceptionally well, qualifying to race against some of the best.
NHRA Las Vegas
Chad Green and Hunter Green will be back in Las Vegas for the NHRA Races happening again in October of 2022. Chad and Hunter will also be back at Tahiti Village enjoying the lazy river and gearing up for the next NHRA Camping World Racing Series for the NHRA Nevada Nationals on October 27 – 30, 2022. NHRA Fans and aficionados can book their stay now at Tahiti Village to be close to the action. This amazing event might even determine the NHRA world championships for the Nitro Funny Car. We know who we will be rooting for!

One of the questions that we are asked more than many others on social media is people wanting to know the best time to visit Las Vegas. The tricky part is that the answer comes down to what people are looking to do while they are visiting Las Vegas because for people looking to hang out at a fantastic pool with sandy beach entry like the one at Tahiti Village is entirely different than someone looking for lower rates to come to town and see shows and enjoy some of the fantastic fine dining options in town. In this post, we will try to cover the many different types of visitors and what likely works the best for them. If you feel that we missed something, please let us know in the comments, and we will be sure to come back and add it to this post.
Average Temperatures in Las Vegas
Being a desert city, the temperatures in Las Vegas can swing more than 30 degrees in a day from the lows to the highs. Depending on the time of year, that may mean you need to start the day in a light jacket or a sweater, and by the afternoon, you are comfortably lounging by the pool. This chart will help give you a range of what to expect by month, including precipitation.
You may be wondering what caused that spike in July. In Las Vegas, we have a summer monsoon season that can cause afternoon thunderstorms to flare up over parts of the valley. While the rain can be an inconvenience for some, many others enjoy watching the lightning from a distance at night since most of the storms get hung on the mountains surrounding the city.
Best Time for Lounging By the Pool in Las Vegas
This is a 2 part question unless you are a fan of the summer heat. The pool season officially kicks off in Las Vegas in mid-March at most properties, though at Tahiti Village, we keep the pool and lazy river heated in the winter so guests can enjoy them all year long.
For visitors looking to spend their entire day & afternoon lounging in the sun, swimming, and enjoying a refreshing drink, we recommend late March through late May and late August through early October. This gives you the best chance to arrive at the pool when it opens and be comfortable all day while you soak up some sun. Just be sure to wear sunscreen to keep from getting burned. Even in cooler temperatures, the UV index in Las Vegas will still cause sunburns.
If you love the heat and the action, then mid-summer months are perfect for you! The pools are busy, the music is on, and the summer pool party vibe is in full swing all across the city. While temperatures will typically be over 100 degrees for a high every day from July through August, the vibes by the pool are also going to be the highest. Just wear some sandals when walking around the pools because the pool deck will be hot.
Best Time for Outdoor Adventures around Las Vegas
Many people looking for desert adventures will stay away from the hot summer months for safety reasons, which is certainly understandable. While short hikes can be safer options, avoiding the summer heat is a good idea if you want something more extreme. For rock climbers looking to climb the longer routes, the season typically starts in November and can run through late March if the weather cooperates.
The winter is typically also the busiest time of the year for the Red Rock Scenic loop drive. In 2020 the park began a reservation system to limit the number of people entering the park at any given hour the gates are open. Because of this, we highly recommend reserving your entry time in advance before you depart for your adventure!
Many national parks are within a 3-4 hour drive of Las Vegas that will give you some of Mother Nature’s most scenic views. Death Valley, Zion National Park, and the Valley of Fire are popular day trip destinations for people looking to see some of the most picturesque views that the Southwestern US offers. If the Grand Canyon is on your bucket list, you can reach the south rim in only 2.5 hours from Las Vegas. If you want to experience the Sky Walk, you’ll want to plan and get your tickets before you leave Las Vegas to make sure your spot is reserved because this is one of the most popular ways for people to see the Grand Canyon.
Best Time to Visit Las Vegas for Nightlife
The nightclubs in Las Vegas will always be when the city is the busiest. For visitors looking for the best nightclub experience, the Summer & Fall seasons will be the best time to visit. There are enough nightclubs on the strip to warrant their post but always plan by reaching out to promoters or looking for online VIP access.
Shows in Las Vegas operate all year long, so you can easily see any of them regardless of the time of year you visit. If you are shopping for a deal, we recommend coming between December and February for the best chances that some shows will offer discounts on show tickets, especially at the TKTS booths located up and down the Las Vegas strip. You’ll also have an easier time getting dinner reservations to those hot restaurants that you have wanted to check out.
It’s Always a Good Time for Las Vegas
No matter what you are looking to get out of your vacation, Las Vegas has you covered. Depending on what you are looking for, some different resorts and locations will suit your needs. Fremont Street may be the perfect spot for you if you are looking for a never-ending party, especially with the newly opened Circa Las Vegas. For the more modern approach, with all of the lavish amenities, the strip is always open and ready to help you have the vacation of a lifetime. If you want to set up a home base in a quieter off-strip hotel but still be close enough to the action to get there quickly and easily, then check out the rates we have for Tahiti Village.
Las Vegas was founded in 1905, when construction started on the Hoover Dam in 1931, Las Vegas as we know it started to take shape. The first casino, The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino opened it’s doors in 1905, in current day Fremont Street and is still a vibrant hotel and casino today. Electricity from the dam enabled the building of many new hotels along the Las Vegas strip, helping to shape the landscape little by little to our present day version of Las Vegas. The original hotels were small, and resembled motor lodges, many being only one story with limited casino floors, in comparison to the modern day megaresorts we see on the strip. All of the original resorts have been replaced by buildings that are significantly larger and more impressive.
Since the establishment of the Strip, many hotels have been erected, then demolished for larger, bigger and better resorts and casinos.
In 1955 The Riviera opened it’s doors as the first high-rise hotel/casino on the strip. The Riviera was the 9th resort built on the Las Vegas Strip and was designed by a Miami architect after a previous attempt to build on the site fell through. The Rivera was one of the most popular hotels and casinos on the strip. Shortly after opening, the Riviera was featured in a famous Life Magazine article “Las Vegas – is Boom Overextended?” a story about how Las Vegas had built too many hotels to be profitable. In 2015, the hotel was demolished to make room for the expansion of the Las Vegas Convention Center, forever reshaping the look and feel of the strip.
Shortly after the opening of The Riviera, the Dunes Hotel and Casino opened making it the 10th resort on the strip. The Dunes was themed after Arabian Nights, with 200 hotel rooms in several buildings, a 35ft sultan statue above the main entrance, along with a 90 foot V-shaped pool and 150-foot lagoon. The resort attracted many different Hollywood stars. The Dunes closed it’s doors in 1993, and the remaining tower was demolished in 1994, signifying the end to mafia controlled resorts in the eyes of many locals. Where the Dunes once stood is now the present day Bellagio. The Dunes golf course has now been converted to Park MGM, New York-New York, CityCenter, Cosmopolitan and the T-Mobile Area.
The most recent transformation to the Strip has been the opening of Resort World in 2021. Resort World is the first new resort to be completed on the strip since the addition of the Cosmopolitan in 2010. Resort World is situated on the site of the famous Stardust Resort and Casino. The Stardust opened it’s doors in 1958 located on 60 acres. The Stardust also offered convention space, a country club, international Raceway and was the first resort to open an RV park for guests. The Stardust closed in 2006 and was demolished in 2007. The site had remained vacant until Resort World construction began in 2017.
What will the next 50 years in Las Vegas look like? Only time will tell, one could only imagine brighter lights, more shows and attractions, and larger resorts. Here’s to the next 50 years in Vegas!
National Plan For Vacation Day is here once again! Take action and plan out how you will enjoy this year’s vacation time.
In 2015 the U.S. Travel Association uncovered an unfortunate finding. Through working with travel industry partners to collect data on vacation time usage, they found out American’s were not using their vacation time. In fact, in 2018, more than 55% of American’s had let their vacation time go unused for the year. Taking time off to unplug helps decrease stress, uplifts moods, and allows you to strengthen connections with others. This is why we emphasize the need to plan out how you will be using your vacation time. You earned it, don’t miss out on this crucial benefit.
Although it is tempting to procrastinate on planning, those who plan tend to use more of their vacation time than those who don’t. To further entice you, we are currently offering 30%off at Tahiti Village when you book for 3 nights by February 28, 2021.Our rooms come equipped with the comforts of home, including a full-sized kitchen, dishwasher, and more. Staycations are pretty trendy these days as people are looking to re-explore where they live with COVID restrictions easing. Some people say a self-care staycation is just as relaxing as taking off to a spa as it refreshes and recharges you. Others say that their families have as much fun bonding over backyard adventures as they do exploring theme parks and museums.
Did you put off last year’s vacation due to the pandemic? You’re not alone! Travel Pulse reports that travel was down nearly 75 percent in 2020. If you need to kick off the new year with some R&R, a staycation could be the answer to your pandemic prayers. Here are five ways a staycation can help you relax, rest, and restore.
Use the amenities at a local spa.
No self-care staycation would be complete without a hot tub soak, sauna, or massage — all of which are hard to do with COVID-19 around. However, it’s not impossible. Many spas and resorts are offering services that adhere to the CDC guidelines for safety.
For example, the Mahana Spa at Tahiti Village is a leader in safe and comfortable mind-body wellness. Guests in the hotel can rest easy knowing that rooms, restaurants, and amenities are all thoughtfully cleaned and prepped to keep each and every guest safe.
Dress the part.
Most people enjoy snagging a few new outfits for a special vacation, and a staycation should be no different. Inner and outerwear like a bra that is comfortable and stylish is perfect for the staycationer who wants to look good on the couch or out on the town. Leisurewear can help you relax while you binge-watch Netflix or keep you warm as you explore the great outdoors.
Take a drive.
So few of us take the time to see the interesting sights the city you live in has to offer. You can drive through the areas you know, but why not go beyond? From your car, you can explore your city’s unique architecture and history or get lost in nature on winding country roads. Plus, you can add a self-care element to a nice drive by listening to self-help podcasts, new albums from your favorite artists, or audiobooks to help you cultivate positivity and gratitude.
Go on a food tour.
Even though the pandemic has many restaurants closing their indoor dining, most have begun offering delivery and curbside pickup, as well as comfortable, socially-distant outdoor dining. Take a food tour — not only will this culinary exploration ignite your taste buds, but in the comfort of your own home or hotel room, you don’t have to worry about catching or spreading illness.
Tour museums virtually.
Now you don’t have to be in Paris to explore the Louvre or in Mexico to experience the National Museum of Archeology. Dozens of elite museums across the globe are keeping their doors open virtually — the perfect adventure for a staycation. In addition, several are also offering online classes and programming to complement online tours. Creation is a powerful way to embody self-care, from painting to crafting, so visit a virtual museum or take an online art course during your time off time at home.
Staycations were increasing in popularity long before the COVID-19 crisis. What kinds of staycations does your family enjoy? Adventure, relaxation, self-care — these vacations may seem out of reach with the pandemic, but with a little creative thinking, you can travel the world from your home.
Tahiti Village indulges Las Vegas visitors in self-care vacations that relax the body and rejuvenate the mind. Get in touch to book your vacation today. (855) 386-4658
